The UPS guy left at package for me at the apartment office today. When I went to the office the door was locked but the sign said “Come on in.” The lights were still on and it was 10 minutes to closing time so I just leaned up against the wall and was going to wait assuming the office person was showing an apartment or something.
Well it turned out that the wall I leaned up against is next to the door for the bathrooms for the pool, which also happen to be the bathrooms for the office staff. I was quite surprised that somebody came out that door, but she was more surprised to see somebody loitering outside the door and screamed at the top of her lungs.
She had a confused look on her face after that because she didn’t know what to do–whether or not to run (she was kind of cornered) or scream some more or what–but thankfully she didn’t have her any mace or anything on her otherwise I am pretty sure she would have used it.
After a few seconds of my apologizing she finally calmed down and opened the office to retrieve my package. She also apologized for screaming in my ear and assured me that it was because she was startled and it was dark and that it was not because of my face.
Well that’s a relief.

A co-worker diagnosed me as being autistic today. I didn’t have anything to say on the subject.

I have only run 3 races this summer but I have still been busy running:
- I have run two 5k’s and one 8k.
- I finished 3rd in my age group twice.
- I got beat by a guy pushing a stroller.
- I got my revenge on stroller the next race.
- I joined the Battle Fitness at Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield and logged over 240 miles running at the battlefield earning my a hat (yep, just a hat).
- I set a personal best for a 5 miler.
- I set a personal best for a Battlefield lap this last week.
- I think I will run the Springfield half marathon again this year (November). (This time with no injuries?)

Some guys at work wanted to join an adult indoor soccer league and need players so I joined under the condition that I would play goalkeeper since I suck at soccer and can’t not use my hands. Our team consists of a wide range of experience ranging from none to life-long soccer enthusiast. We joined the “C” league, which is supposed to be lowest level of competition–there are three other teams and one of them has been playing together for 13 years. So it turns out we are the worst team in the worst league. We managed to tie our first game, but we have lost three in a row for an 0-3-1 record. If we could score more goals and our goalkeeper didn’t suck we just might win a game before the season is over.

I didn’t post last month because some indexing robot maxed out my allotted monthly bandwidth. Anyway, I fixed that problem. It also gave me time to work on my cabin. It’s pretty neat–it’s out in the woods miles from civilization. Next I will stockpile it with supplies.
Incidentally, does anyone know where I can get a good manual typewriter?
Post incidentally, I have a new memoir coming soon.

So everybody comments that they can’t get enough of my toes, so here is the one month update. At this point I don’t think the toenails will fall off. I have even run a couple miles on them.
